Banned In 19 States, Animal Gas Chamber Still Legal In Pennsylvania

Nineteen states have banned the use of carbon monoxide gas chambers for domestic animals, but Pennsylvania isn't one of them.

While critics of the chambers want them outlawed, one shelter that still uses gas said requiring a different euthanasia method would be too expensive.

Nearly 2,000 dogs and cats passed through the Venango County Humane Society in Franklin last year.

Most of them found new homes through adoptions, but for others, a steel cage was the last thing they saw....
